The Fundamentals classes are suitable for beginners and those wanting recap fundamental Slow Balboa dance techniques. For the Fundamentals classes, no dance experience is required but you should note that Slow Balboa is commonly dance in a close-embrace position, similar to Ballroom or Tango dancing.
For the Explorer classes prior dance experience of Slow Balboa is required, and you should, at least, attended a few classes or a one-day workshop - even if it's a while ago. The Explorer classes will built on the content of the Fundamentals classes and you can also book both class streams if you have close-embrace dance experience (e.g. Blues, Balboa, Tango).
A class is 55 minutes long. Please note that, on 09 December, we'll have a joint Fundamentals and Explorer class from 7:30-8:25pm, followed by social dancing until 9:30pm.
The classes can be booked as blocks of 2 or 3, and you can book for either the dance role of Follower or of Leader. Please feel free to choose your dance role according to your personal preference, regardless of gender. You do not need a dance partner to register for the classes. We generally rotate dance partners to help learn the techniques of following and leading.
