You can choose between Fundamental classes and Improvers / Intermediates classes.
The Fundamentals classes are suitable for beginners and those wanting recap fundamental Balboa dance techniques. For the Fundamentals classes, no dance experience is required but you should note that Balboa is commonly dance in a close-embrace position, similar to Ballroom or Tango dancing. For the Improvers / Intermediates class, prior dance experience of Balboa is required and you should, at least, have attended two blocks of beginner classes or a weekend workshop.
A class is 45 minutes long and, in-between both classes, we have 30 minutes of practice time / social dancing. You do not need a dance partner to register for the classes. We generally rotate dance partners to help learn the techniques of following and leading.
The classes can be booked as blocks of 3, 4 or 5, and you can book for either the dance role of Follower or of Leader. Please feel free to choose your dance role according to your personal preference, regardless of gender. If you book the Improvers / Intermediates classes, you're welcome to also come along to the beginners class but we might kindly ask you to switch your dance role where required.
